Sunday 15 February is going to be a delightful day at the Comic Art Museum, because we will be receiving a distinguished visitor: Wauter Mannaert, a Brussels-based comic book artist who currently has his own exhibition at our museum, will be dropping by for a special reading and signing session!
With “De queeste” (The Quest), Wauter Mannaert has created an exciting and funny trilogy about Pelli's search for the “beast”. The series updates the legend of King Arthur, but also tackles recognisable topics that you would expect to find in a youth comic in 2026: teenagers' relationships with their parents, ecology, emancipation.
The third and final part of “De queeste” has recently hit the shops, and we are celebrating this with a reading session and a book signing. You can also find out all about Wauter and his work in our exhibition “De Natuur van Wauter Mannaert” (The Nature of Wauter Mannaert). Extra fun? There is also an activity booklet to really go on a quest in the exhibition. In short, all the ingredients are there for a fun afternoon during the spring half-term holidays.

Schedule:

Reading session (NL) from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Reading session (French) from 3.45 p.m. to 4.15 p.m.
Signing session from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Free with a musuemticket, but registration is required. You can register here.

Come and see, come and see, on Thursday 19 February at the cultural centre of Etterbeek, Le Senghor.
MONKEYBIZ is an ironic and original reinterpretation of ‘Journey to the West’, a classic 16th-century Chinese novel by Wu Ch'êng-ên. With live drawings and music, Marta Del Grandi (music) and Cecilia Valagussa (animation) from Fossick Project take you on a magical, wordless trip.
The performance is about a cunning monkey who uses all kinds of tricks and magic to overcome any obstacle. It's a dynamic fusion of comics and live performance that satirizes modern consumer culture. Through humor and vivid imagery, Fossick Project critique the absurdities of contemporary life.
With MONKEYBIZ, Fossick Project invites you to dive into a universe where visual poetry and music interact and transform the stage into a boundless and magical space. A live comic art show like you've never seen before.

The Comic Strip Observatory 2025

The Comic Strip Observatory is an annual overview of the richness and diversity of the Belgian comic book world. The Comic Art Museum launched this project several years ago. This year, we are trying to bring together as many comic strips as possible that were published in 2025 and whose author is Belgian or lives in Belgium, regardless of genre, format or audience.
The Comic Strip Observatory is intended as a reference work and offers a clear, documented and up-to-date overview of national production. It shows the dynamism of Belgian creators, whether they work for large publishing houses or independent structures, whether they explore the codes of traditional comic strips or push the boundaries of the medium.
This catalogue is distributed to festivals, cultural institutions, professional organisations, residency centres, international partners and the media, and is an essential tool for promoting Belgian comics both abroad and on our territory. For example, it serves as a documentation base for the selection of prizes, invitation programmes, grants, professional meetings and other initiatives to support artists.
Through the Comic Strip Observatory, the Comic Strip Museum reaffirms its commitment to promoting contemporary creations, supporting authors in the distribution of their work and strengthening the visibility of Belgian comic strips on the international stage.

Are you Belgian and/or do you live in Belgium? And have you published a comic book between January and December 2025?Then we would like to invite you to fill in this form. This will help us to make our observatory as complete and comprehensive as possible!
